The world of poker is seemingly going buy-in crazy. There used to be a time when a $10,000 event was serious business, but these days the stakes just keep getting higher and higher.
Nearly all of the major poker tours have a High Roller event and, recently, the buy-ins have increased, along with the introduction of the rebuy format. This has created huge prize-pools and a lot of interest from the professional players who can afford to play in these games with much smaller fields.
In keeping with the trend, The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has just announced a €50,000 Re-Entry High-Roller event planned for the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) schedule, due to be held in Cannes, France from September 21 – October 4.
It will be the sixth annual WSOPE and the second consecutive year that the event has been held in Cannes after the first four took place in London. Be sure to keep ahead of the game by reading the online poker tips on Betfair.
This year’s WSOPE is going to contain seven gold bracelet events, plus 69 side events and cash games.
Throw in the sun and show time feel of Cannes and you have one heck of a tournament on your hands. The €50,000 Re-Entry High Roller will be a three-day, non-bracelet event, with registration open until the second level of play on day 2.
When it comes to big buy-in events, you are not going to get much bigger than the recent Big One for One Drop held at this years' WSOP with a buy-in of $1 million.
Two of the participants in that ground breaking tournament - Asian businessmen Richard Yong and Paul Phua - have verbally declared their intention to play in the €50,000 event.
The Betfair Summer Slam poker event is also proving popular with players of all abilities; register today for a chance at a big pay-out, this autumn.
